CORTNEY BAUER · GOOGLE REVIEW

We evaluated numerous local Minnesota builders and ultimately chose Northern Steam for their exceptional quality/craftsmanship and a custom model that truly fit our needs.

SARAH SCHOENECKER · GOOGLE REVIEW

If you’re looking to add a sauna to your home, I HIGHLY recommend reaching out to Jaden and Northern Steam. It’s rare to find a local business that prioritizes integrity as much as they do.

We have delivered saunas to backyards around the Twin Cities, lake places up north, and a few spots in Wisconsin and Iowa. Here are 25 of them. Pick a pin to see the build.

WHERE WE BUILD

Saunas for Lake Minnetonka and the west metro.

Our shop is in St. Bonifacius. Most of our saunas go to the lake towns and suburbs around it, and plenty travel farther.

QUESTIONS

Sauna questions we hear most.

Where is Northern Steam located?

Our shop is in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, on the west side of Lake Minnetonka. We build every sauna there and deliver across the west metro, the Twin Cities and the lake country beyond, with builds as far as Wisconsin and Iowa.

How much does an outdoor sauna cost?

Typical projects run $20,000 to $30,000 for the 6x8 Kota, $30,000 to $40,000 for the 8x12 Tuli and $50,000 to $60,000 and up for the 8x16 Superior. Fully custom builds run $35,000 to $65,000 and up. The heater, glass, layout and site work set the final number, and every proposal is itemized.

Do you build wood-fired or electric saunas?

Both. Wood-fired saunas need no electrical service for heat and give you a fire to tend. Electric saunas need a 240-volt circuit and heat at the press of a button. We use IKI stoves and heaters, and we will help you choose based on your lot and how you plan to use it.

Do you handle site prep, electrical and delivery?

Yes. We can take the whole project from an empty backyard to a finished sauna: the gravel pad or concrete piers, the electrical trench and hookup, delivery and placement, or building on site when a finished sauna will not fit through. You deal with one company the whole way.

Can I try a sauna before I buy one?

Yes. Nordic Escape in St. Michael books sessions in a Tuli we built, with an IKI electric heater. It is a separate business, so you reserve with them, sit in one of our saunas for an evening, and then tell us what you want in yours.
