The Tuli is one of our most popular builds, and this one stands in the backyard of a Minnetonka home under a canopy of mature trees. Dark vertical siding, a cedar soffit with recessed lighting and a natural wood entry door help it look at home in a wooded yard.
Inside, tongue-and-groove cedar covers every surface: walls, ceiling, floor and benches. The Tuli layout has tiered benches with plenty of room to stretch out, which works for one person after work and for a few people on a weekend. A large picture window brings in daylight and keeps the room from feeling closed off.
Heat comes from an IKI electric heater. We specify this unit often because it gives soft, even heat and good steam without the work of a wood-burning setup. You still get real steam and serious heat. You do not have to manage a fire, and for most homeowners that convenience matters.
The Tuli keeps being a go-to layout because of its size. It is small enough for daily use and large enough for company. This one is built for year-round use, which in Minnesota is a requirement. We are grateful to the homeowner for trusting us with the build.
