Northern Steam is a Minnesota sauna company run by Jaden Jurvakainen. We design and build custom outdoor saunas in St. Bonifacius, and every one gets built the way Jaden would want it in his own backyard.

A note from Jaden

Hi everyone,

I’m Jaden Jurvakainen, owner of Northern Steam.

I grew up in the small community of Cokato, Minnesota, where saunas have always been part of the culture. Around here, most people either have a sauna or know someone who does. It’s where people unwind after a long day, warm up in the winter, and spend time with friends and family.

The photo here is of me with my wife and two little girls. Building saunas is something I take a lot of pride in, but being a dad is by far the best job I’ve got.

What started as a personal interest in building saunas quickly turned into something I realized people truly value. There’s something special about creating a space where people can slow down, relax, and enjoy time together.

Since the beginning, every sauna we build has been approached with the same mindset: building it with the care, pride, and attention to detail as if it were going in my own backyard.

What we build

Outdoor saunas are the heart of it: three models we have refined over many builds, and one-off designs for properties that call for something else. We build wood-fired and electric, and we handle the rest of the project too, from site planning to working with your electrician and the other trades.

Where we work

Our shop is in St. Bonifacius, on the west side of Lake Minnetonka. Most of our work is in the west metro and the lake towns around it, but our saunas have gone to cabins up north, to Wisconsin and to Iowa. If you can get a trailer to it, we will talk about it.
